The first digital prints I made

THE STORY- I could not afford frames! So for my first digital prints at home, I used thrift store frames. I took all the above pictures in frames with only compact digital cameras. I modified them for macro shots with re-cycled optics. Most of these were taken with the Kodak DX-7630, Konica Minolta Z10. and sometimes a Canon A520. ALL these cameras for some reason they are stuck stopped at F8 and lower only. I do not know why even many of the most expensive compact cameras are limited to F8. It is still possible to get great shots with them. For some shots I added a plastic "aperture plug" what I came up with to make my own higher aperture setting by fitting it inside a tube before after the first lenses to increase depth of field. F8 usually actually did the job well enough back then. Now I often shoot up at F22-36+ with more and more pro-gear and digital and sometimes film SLRs but sometimes a small camera can be a good idea to keep in mind.

I deliberately moderate things and do not use profanity in my articles. I try to stay out of politics and writing about current /controversial events but sometimes it can be difficult to hold back strong opinions. Unfortunately people also sometimes leave inappropriate comments as they can and do on all websites/blogs that allow comments. I try to keep up with deleting these but it's a constant battle I don't always have control over. This site is rated (G) "Family approved". Through the advice of my family and photographic mentors there is nothing here which I would not let my own kids see if I had them. (unless they are terrified of spiders!) These pictures are in the same category which can be found in a (G) educational program or TV documentary. I deliberately try (and it's not easy!) to keep religion and politics out of my blog as well no matter how much I might want to scream about something. Of course there are spider pictures and moments when I talk about politics.. but for the most part as sites go this one is very clean.
HOWEVER some people are inclined to post ridiculous adds in my blog trying to hawk products or other SPAM that I constantly fight. Keeping those comments off can be a full time job so I've had to take measures to limit illicit SPAM comments most of which are adds for products I have nothing to do with. These comments are being removed by me in an on going effort to eliminate them. Questions?/Ideas? Email me.

If you use the small mailbox I will not be able to know your e-mail address and still be able to respond to your questions. Kids like bugs--I sure did. But if you e-mail me without a return address I won't be able to respond. And sorry but since I am an adult, I will not be able to join or respond to teen or kids only sites of any kind.
